Albany Area Branch of the Capital District YMCA – Aquatics Director

The incumbent will be committed to providing our community with vital, life-saving aquatics programs for all ages while leading and training the best lifeguards and swim instructors in the Capital District. The Aquatics Director manages the aquatics department, which includes the operation of the pool, aquatics programs, staff and budget management. We’re looking for a dynamic individual dedicated to maintaining and growing a robust aquatics program, serving Troy and our surrounding communities. Programming includes swimming lessons for all abilities and ages, aquatic fitness programs for teens, adults and active older adults. The Men’s Residence Program at the Schenectady Branch of the Capital District YMCA – Director of Supported Housing

YMCA Camp Chingachgook on Lake George – Nurse

Under the general direction of the Camp Health Director, the Camp Nurse is responsible for the management of Camp’s Health Lodge, the administration of camper medications, and general health caregiving for both the summer camper and staff population.

New York State Announces Applications Open for 2015-2017 Empire State Fellows Program

The State of New York today announced the opening of the application process for the latest class of the Empire States Fellows. Now in its fourth year, the prestigious program attracts exceptional and diverse talent from all around the country to serve in high-level positions in New York State government. Since its inception in 2012, the two-year program has begun preparing a new generation of policy-makers to help lead New York State well into the future, with various Empire State Fellows going on to serve in appointed positions throughout the administration upon completion of their Fellowship.

“New York has always fostered great home-grown talent while also attracting the best and brightest from around the world,” said New York Secretary of State Cesar A. Perales, who oversees the program for Governor Andrew M. Summary: Plans monthly menus, ensures food preparation is done safely, reports to outside funding and purchasing agencies are done timely and accurately and that the Center has the appropriate food and supplies for meals by performing the position responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Formulates menus for diets based on medical and physical condition of residents, and integrates residents’ menus with basic menu. Ensures that all menus and meal preparation are compliant with funding source standards including CACFP and NYSDOH standards. Instructs residents about meal plan and dietary changes, and establishes goals and objectives to help meet the plan, if needed for a family. Instructs families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection, and preparation. Educates residents and agency staff in food preparation, service and proper storage. Agency staff is informed during supervision with the Client Advocate and regularly during program aid meetings. Residents are educated through a variety of venues: house meetings, when working with program aids, or when interacting with the Nutrition Supervisor. The Nutrition Supervisor will ensure the Client Advocate/Sr. Program Aid has information to provide to residents. Teaches nutrition and diet therapy to center personnel. Completes monthly reports for funding sources. Acts as the contact staff for other community service agencies regarding food purchasing/grants, i.e…Regional Food Bank, CACFP, DOH etc… Maintains files for funding source to include but not limited to copies of monthly menu. Purchase all needed items for food preparation to include groceries, which includes regular order to Regional Food Bank and shopping twice a week at the local grocery store, along with other food vendors such as Ginsberg, Sycaway, etc.

Qualifications: Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software, and Microsoft Office software. The Nutrition Supervisor must be proficient in completing any online reporting requirements by funders or oversight organizations. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certification in Nutrition or related field preferred, clean Driver’s License.

The intern’s responsibilities will focus on raising the public profile of the Master Teacher Program, responding to requests from potential candidates and current Master Teachers, and supporting the program as it grows to its largest size and scope to date. State University of New York – Law Student Internships

The State University of New York Office of General Counsel, located in Albany, New York, offers law students the opportunity to intern full-time during a summer or part-time during the fall and spring academic semesters.

The General Counsel’s Office handles legal and policy matters for the SUNY system, SUNY campuses, and Community Colleges operating under the program of the State University. Approximately 30 attorneys work collaboratively and individually on matters that range from contracts, copyright, and labor law to maritime law, immigration law, intellectual property, and environmental law. State University of New York – Legal Intern

The Board of Trustees of the State University of New York (SUNY) in February 1999 established the SUNY Charter Schools Institute (Institute) to assist them in carrying out its responsibilities under the New York Charter Schools Act of 1998 (Article 56 of the New York Education Law). The Institute evaluates applications for the opening of new charter schools, renewal of charters and charter revisions; monitors student academic performance, overall school operations and governance; and presents various findings and recommendations regarding charter matters to the SUNY Trustees’ Charter Schools Committee, which handles such issues on behalf of the SUNY Trustees. SUNY may authorize up to 230 independent and autonomous public charter schools, and to date oversees about 120 schools.

The Institute Legal Internship is intended as a professional development opportunity designed to familiarize and involve legal interns with the ongoing work of the country’s largest university-based charter school authorizer within the broader education reform landscape and the growing charter sector. The internship strives to provide broad exposure to the wide range of academic, compliance, governance and organizational responsibilities of the Institute, while actively engaging the intern in new and ongoing initiatives.

The Legal Intern will report to the Institute’s Executive Deputy Director and General Counsel and will work with the Associate Counsel and Director of Charter Accountability, who is responsible for school compliance.
