Today, Jesus calls us to demonstrate in very tangible ways our confidence and trust in Him.
Through each our readings and the gospel we see God’s desire to have all belong to Him, for all to have a place in the Kingdom. God does not want anyone left out.
As such, through Jesus’ cross we have been adopted in His blood. What comes next are conscious choices.
The first choice, will I be born a child of the kingdom by regeneration in the waters of baptism?
From there, will I grow each day into the image of the Heavenly Father? Will I walk in the footsteps of Jesus? Will I live the way He showed me through Holy Scripture and the teaching of the Church?
Far too many think the Kingdom life is a one-way street. God has adopted me and now I don’t have to do anything. I will just sit around waiting for God to do stuff for me.
Remember, we must demonstrate our confidence and trust in Jesus.
Throughout Scriptural history everyone called took action to show their faith. Today we encounter the Canaanite who would not relent.
She would not just sit on the side of the road, silent. She would not go away. She would not let silence, rejection, or insult drive her away.
Wherever I came from, whoever I am, faith and trust is required as with the Canaanite woman. Nothing stood in the way of her showing her trust. May Jesus say to us: great is your faith!
