“I revealed Your name to those whom You gave me out of the world. They belonged to You, and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.”
Christ is Risen! Alleluia!
He is truly risen! Alleluia!
Last week we discussed the change that was needed in our view. Our limited human view needed transformation and indeed it has been transformed by our faith in Jesus Christ.
We now have a Kingdom view that goes far beyond human limits. We have a view informed by faith and molded by the words Jesus spoke to us. That is why bible reading is so key, because the more we read and consider the more informed and educated we are. We are better prepared to tell others about what Jesus has done for us.
Our view continues to be informed by Jesus’ last supper discourse which we read. He speaks of us as being chosen, not just by Him, but by the Father. They belonged to You, and You gave them to Me.
We may think we just happened to wander in here, or we came out of habit, or we have been here in this very special family because it is our legacy. Yes, all that is true. More important is the fact each of us were chosen by the Father to belong to His Son, to be part of this family of faith.
That changes our human view, doesn’t it?
St. Peter reminds us that we will face suffering, and again, our view must be different. In suffering we are joined to Christ, and we are asked to see beyond today’s suffering to the glory we will share in, how our suffering acts as a witness to Christ and the changed view we have. Indeed, in every moment our changed view sees forward. sees our part in the unfolding plan of salvation.
In these days between the Ascension and Pentecost we are asked to pray and to recognize that the very same prayer of the Apostles reenforced their new view of things. It blessed them as they looked forward with focus on Jesus’ words and deeds and strengthened them for the witness they would bear in all times. So may it be for us in our new view, new study, and witness.
