Youth and some adults are returning to university. Our younger children start a new school year. Rested from time-off and vacations, we return to the routine of our jobs and lives. Perhaps we will take some time for that major Fall clean-out and repurpose those white elephants. The scripture above taken from the start of the Acts of the Apostles speaks of the Church’s life. That life must be extant and vital for us who have inherited the Pristine Catholic Faith. In four distinct instances the early Church, together in prayer, discussed issues and took steps toward new beginnings.

September is the month of beginnings. Youth and some adults are returning to university. Our younger children start a new school year. Rested from time-off and vacations, we return to the routine of our jobs and lives. Perhaps we will take some time for that major Fall clean-out and repurpose those white elephants. My son Adam and his fiancée Laura begin their lives together with their marriage on September 26th at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Manchester, New Hampshire. My daughter Victoria received her Physical Therapy license, started her career, and has an apartment. The change of new beginnings abounds. At the end of this month (one day after the wedding), the Holy Church will gather in Manchester for its XXVII Holy Synod.

As I have been training new priests who desire to enter our Holy Church, I spend significant time on the way the Church has been managed from the beginning. Not by dictatorial one man pronouncements, but through a collaborative and consensus building process (see Acts 1:15-26, Acts 6:1-6, Acts 11:1-4,18, and Acts 15:2-23,30 for example). In four distinct instances the early Church, together in prayer, discussed issues and took steps toward new beginnings.
The Church ever continues to grow and become through the process of sanctification, as each of us do, changing more and more into the image of God. By growing we respond to the call to project the image of God into an often dark and scary world, a world that looks after self-interest and selfish desire above all else. Please keep the Church in your prayers, that the Holy Spirit may guide our deliberations and strengthen us in our common mission of bearing the image of God and growing His Kingdom.
